The moment of truth is now almost at hand for Ireland’s inventors in the Farm Inventions and Labour Saving Device classes, in this novel, one of a kind competition.
Last year saw the largest number of entries in the National Inventions Competition at Tullamore Show since the competition began.
The competition has now progressed to such an extent that the organisers have decided that all judging of inventions will take place on Saturday 9th of August from 10:00 a.m. This should ensure that the event runs smoothly.
Entry Fee: €20
Some exhibitors will actually have a greater interest in the publicity they will receive rather than the prize money.
However, not many will turn up their nose at the €300 first prize and cup in each of the three categories.
In addition, there is also an incentive for students to get involved, as the best student exhibit in each of the three categories will win €100.
An officer from the National Patents Office in Kilkenny may come along on the Day and talk to exhibitors about how to go about getting a patent.
So a simple labour saving device of today might become an invention of tomorrow!
Categories for Inventions
1. Inventions in Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry
2. Inventions in Home, Leisure and Building
3. Labour Saving Device
The whole competition would not exist if it were not for the support given by its three sponsors;
• The Farming Independent
• W.R. Shaw, Tullamore, Co Offaly
• Glenngorey Pumps Ltd, Newbridge, Co Kildare.
Judging commences 10.30 a.m. Saturday 9th August
The results will be announced at 3.30 p.m. Sunday 10th August
Exhibits can be new inventions or modifications to existing inventions.
A representative from the Government Patent Office may attend.
