The Best Cultural Tourism Award for 2012 was presented to Tullamore Show by MidlandsIreland.ie at an Awards Ceremony, held in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone, last week. The Show Chairman, George Gill, and Show Secretary, Freda Kinnarney, were very delighted to accept the award from Eanna Rowe, Head of Marketing and Communications, with the Sponsors Lakelands & Inland Waterways and Will Faulkner, Master of Ceremonies for the occasion.
The award recognises the huge importance of the tourism industry, coming from the arts projects, festivals, cultural centres, theatres, studios, members of the food sector, convention centres e all, to be The Best in Business. The category of the Cultural Tourism Award aims to reward outatanding achievement in the arts, culture and tourism sector to an organisation / company that can provide evidence of excellence and best practice in areas of cultural tourism business organisation.
The road to this great achievement by Tullamore Show started out last December when the show was awarded the Tullamore & District Chamber of Commerce 2011 Business Award for Tourisnm and Entertainment. This was followed by a three stage process by MidlandsIreland.ie before the final decision was announced last week at The Best in Business Awards Ceremony 2012.
The benifits of winning the award are very much appreciated by Tullamore Show, and these include the recognition of the achievements from a very hardworking and dedicated group of people, a very elegant and beautiful Celtic Roots Sculpture, certificate of merit, media coverage and profile developement.
Tullamore Show,acknowledges that the award, while not just being a sense of achievement, is also a milestone of our success to date, being our 21st year. However, it is also acknowledged that this would not have been achieved without the wonderful support of sponsors, exhibitors, competitors, volunteers, visitors, and staff.
