With a string of iTunes #1's already to his name, it sometimes feels like ALEX ROE has been a fixture on the country music scene for years. And the truth is, he actually has. But yet, this young Clara man is still only twenty-one. The fact that he has already established himself as a performer of note says everything about his dedication and likeability. So there were very few in any way surprised to see Alex pick up his first major award earlier this year, being presented with the Larry Cunningham Music Award at the Hot Country TV Awards Concert, the biggest night on the country music calendar.
Alex has just released his latest single, In The Middle, and the infectious, 'ear-worm' of a tune looks set to be his most popular hit to date, even outdoing his instantly catchy, fun-filled sizzler from last summer, Summer Time. A couple interesting points worth noting about Alex's career is that his first three singles were all original songs, and not only that, but all three went to the top of the country charts. In The Middle will be the first cover he's released, but the song, originally by American country star Rodney Atkins, will be new to Irish audiences. The song is a bold choice for Alex, but it's one that indicates his ever- growing confidence and maturity as an entertainer.
Alex supported Jimmy Buckley at this year's Monaghan Town Country Music Festival, and on October 8th, Alex will host the Alex Roe & Friends concert in the Tullamore Court Hotel, where he'll be joined by Sabrina Fallon, Aoife McDonagh, David Keirnan, Paul Kelly, and Colin Kenny.
