Over the last couple of years the WRAFTER FAMILY BAND have shown themselves to be something you don't often come across, with all five members moving as one cohesive unit in displaying an uncanny ability to take their musical talent from their own sitting room in Kilbeggan to stages alongside some of the biggest names in Irish music. Peter, Noreen, and their three children; Conor, Thomas, and Aimee, first came to national attention when their performance of The Blarney Stone proved to be a highlight of The Late Late Show's St. Patrick's night special in 2017. While that may have been the fab five's first time on Irish television, it was never going to be their last. On this year's series of the TG4 talent show Realta Agus Gaolta, the Wrafters made it all way to the final, charming the nation once again with glorious renditions of their latest single, Farewell To The Rhondda, and an emotional and touching version of I Remember You Singing This Song, Ma.
Indeed, that particular number now holds a place of special affection in the Wrafter's hearts as Thomas performed it in Leinster House with the legendary Finbar Furey last December, when the family supported the great man at the Ceann Comhairle's fundraiser for Trocaire. Not only did that meeting lead to Thomas and Finbar going viral on Joe.ie, but also to a special invitation for Thomas to join Finbar at his Tullamore concert last March for a repeat performance. In fact, so impressed was Finbar with the Wrafters, that he has even presented them with an original song of his to record, with a release date expected for later this year.
The Wrafter Family Band have also supported Nathan Carter, Johnny McEvoy, The High Kings (on three occasions), The Fureys, and The Three Tenors (Ireland).
