Tina Claffey is a nature photographer with a love for Ireland’s bogs and wetlands. Her stunningly beautiful images reveal the commonplace as something new and exotic. For almost 10 years, she lived and worked in pristine wilderness areas in Botswana, and this experience awakened an appreciation of the natural world of her home country.
Tina’s observations and unique perspective of the flora and fauna of the unspoilt raised bogs and wet woodlands of the Irish midlands are celebrated in her new book Tapestry of Light – Ireland’s bogs and wetlands as never seen before.
Tapestry of Light was launched in November 2017. The title ‘Tapesty of Light’ is taken from the eponymous poem by John Sheahan, the renowned musician and composer with the famous folk group, The Dubliners. The book includes a foreword by Dr. John Feehan and is published by bespoke publishers Artisan House in Connemara.
Capturing her desired shot requires Tina to wait patiently, lie down or climb up, position her camera and wait for the moment. Using all Canon equipment, Tina specialises in macro photography, which allows her to photograph the flora and fauna of the bog that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Tina will be giving a presentation on her work, and her book will also be available to buy on the day.
Go to the Indoor Workshop Pavilion 2 at 2:15 pm to hear all the tips and hint Tina will be sharing.
